Susan Dew Hoff Memorial Clinic's (SDH) mission is to remove pain and restore the oral health of its patients in Harrision County, WV and to keep working people working.
SDH opened in 2001 and is named in honor of the first woman to obtain a medical license in West Virginia, Dr. Susan Dew Hoff. The founder of the clinic is Sister Mary Rebecca Fidler who remains the CEO.
SDH offers restorative and preventative dental care including exams, x-rays, fillings, extractions, cleanings, and partials/dentures to ease pain and produce and promote good oral health.
In the spring of 2015, the clinic partnered with the West Virginia University School of Dentistry to allow dental students to come each week and work under the supervision of faculty dentists. This partnership has helped the clinic to increase the number of patients it serves from 882 in 2014 to 1,527 in 2016. SDH currently has five volunteer dentists and other necesssary volunteers to run a five-day-a-week office. At Susan Dew Hoff Memorial Clinic, they do more than fix teeth; they change lives by alleviating pain and improving appearance, health, and self-confidence. The clinic also strives to educate its patients to understand the importance of good oral hygiene and regular dental visits.
